The Embrace Civility Award recognizes people who contribute to civility and exemplify positive human relations in all aspects of community life. Nominations are available for download at beverlyhills.org/embracecivilityaward and can be submitted online or by mail through November 5, 2014. "Live Love Joy" Heart Healthy Lunch & Learn Workshop

The City of Beverly Hills and the Cardiovascular Research Foundation of Southern California hosted the 2nd Heart Healthy Lunch and Learn workshop in the Magnolia Room of the new Roxbury Park Community Center. Doctor Harold Karpman was on hand to provide expert tips on reducing stress and controlling other risk factors of heart disease. PickleFest 2014

On Sunday August 3rd the Beverly Hills Farmers Market celebrates it's 20th anniversary with the 2nd annual PickleFest contest and celebration sponsored by legendary delicatessen Nate 'n Al. Be Water Wise

As summer heats up the city wants to remind you to Be Water Wise. In Beverly Hills more than 65% of the water used goes to landscaping. It's important to remember that the city's mandatory watering-days program is still in effect. Watering is prohibited everyday between 9am and 5pm and you should only water your lawn or garden on designated days for your neighborhood. If you live north of Santa Monica Blvd you may water your lawn on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. South of Santa Monica Blvd. water only on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The first phase of a ban on single-use plastic shopping bags took effect July 1st, requiring shoppers at five large stores in Beverly Hills to provide their own reusable bags or purchase paper ones. Beverly Hills wins Livability Award from the U.S. Conference of Mayors

The City of Beverly Hills has been honored with the Outstanding Achievement City Livability Award, for cities with fewer than 100,000 people. The award honors city governments for developing programs that enhance the quality of life in urban areas.
